Risk VS Reward
Year made: 2023
Designed: poster/illustration
This was a project that was a part of my college course, the brief for this was telling a story so I decided to go with the idea of the risk vs the reward of gambling. For this project I used a numerous amount of graphic design techniques such as: hierarchy, typography, etc.

The concept
The main feeling I wanted to portray with the imagery here was the sense of foreboding doom that could happen whilst in the situation of gambling, I believed the best game to showcase this is blackjack as the dealer can see both your cards but you don't see the dealer's hand. I also made the dealer's cards bigger as a way to showcase they have the power in the situation no matter the hand you may have.
I made the background of this completely monotone grey as to show that the person in this gambling situation is only focused on themselves and the game, they are playing at that current moment this shows how the addiction of gambling can take over an entire person's life.

Typeface
The typeface I used here is called Casino (regular) I did decided to use this typeface and font style as the text here has these little dots on them which can be spotlights these lights are something I associated with the Las Vegas strip sign which is one of the most notorious spots for the most famous casinos and gambling hub of the world.
In the final design I used specifically yellow and green here to get across that these two words are the most important words compared to the rest of the text is black.

Primary Colour Palette
For the primary colour palette, I used a multitude of colours here are my reasons why. I used the rich grey as the monotone colour for the background, this was to show how the person participating in the gambling is primarily focused on the thrill of the gamble everything else fading into the background.
I use the rich black colour for the dealer's cards which are concealed from the perspective of the viewer using this in conjunction with how the cards are within the hierarchy making the cards bigger create this uneasiness within the viewer with the cards concealed showing the risk of loss whilst the dealer can see your cards.
The peridot yellow colour I use this specifically on the text reward, with using this with the casino font what I wanted to do is make reward stand out compared to the other text which is black since it is part of the title for this piece of work I made.
Finally, the cadmium green and the medium jungle green. I use these two colours respectively for the playing table I used this to add a layer of realism as both these colours are universally known to be colours that make up a playing table.
